GoBabygym Classes
Introduction: (5 minutes)
As children arrive they are encouraged to enter the play area (this is
in the form of a large house made of foam, full of toys…etc).
At the end of play, children are assembled according to their colour
groups (identified by a coloured flag the children are given) where the
instructor greets them.
First Phase: Discovery and Play (5 minutes)
The children play freely with all the materials while the instructor
ensures their safety. After a one minute rest period, children find
their colour group and the instructor accompanies them to form a small
train through the various circuits.
For the older children, the first phase is a 5 minute collective warm-up
to music as directed by an instructor, eg: to run when the music is
heard and then carry out instructions when the music stops; make a
statue, sit down, sit down on a certain colour or touch a certain colour.
Second Phase: The Circuits (3 x 10 minutes + 3 minutes)
Circuit 1: Tota l Moveme nt
Children engage in crawling, climbing and turning.
Circuit 2: Tota l Mobility
Emphasis on balance, jumping and equilibrium.
Circuit 3: Mobility and Agility Deve lopme nt
For older children emphasis is placed on eye coordination and
developing play in preparation for team sports.
Each group remains on each circuit for 10 minutes with a minute rest
in between. Background music with suitable rhythm denotes a change in
circuit. The circuits are more difficult for older children with clear
instructions given for children to understand.
Third Phase: Creativity (5 minutes)
The groups play a game miming expressions with or without
musical support.
Final Phase: Cool Down (2 minutes)
Return to a state of calm with a rest period to soft background
music.
